I read a few news articles, which I don't normally do. A huge mistake on my part.
There was a 24 yr old woman who hid her preganancy from her family and dumped the baby in a trash can. By the time her family figured it out and found the baby it had already passed away. They tried to revive the baby, notified 911, and were on the way to the hospital. The baby was born alive, but died in the trash can. She's being charged with second degree murder and child abuse.
A 21 yr old mother locks her 2 year old son in a closet while she goes to work. The boy was found by a constable (court officer) serving an eviction notice. No one answered the door so he went in to to change the locks. He found a chair propped against a closet door. When he opened it low and behold a 2 yr old boy with bruises, a chipped tooth, and no access to food and water. She said that her boyfriend would have been there soon to watch him. She has been charged with 2 counts of child abuse, is on supervised release, and living with her father. The little boy was turned over to Child Protective Services.
Seriously, what the hell?! Who leaves their 2 yr old child home alone in a closet! I don't care how late your gonna be, find someone to watch your child. I'm outraged by the 24 yr old dumping the baby in a trash can. What hurts most is that these people planned to do these things. Did it not occur to them to look for help? The really scary thing is that these two stories are in Arizona alone. Can you imagine what happens in the rest of the world? It breaks my heart to think about it. There is nothing more precious in this world than life don't mistreat it.

Arizona Weather & Good Reading
Dark, cold, and rainy. Those are the words that can describe Arizona at the moment. Lord knows, it's hardly ever cold or rainy here. There are flood watches all over the valley. So I made the decision to not leave the house today, that includes not bringing my daughter to school. I didn't want to get stuck in a wash somewhere and never make it home. Especially with my daughter in the vehicle. Sure as hell didn't wanna end up on the news as one of the idiots that decided to drive through a "puddle" and it ended up being a lake!
So I am taking this time to do homework (sort of), or maybe do some needed housework (maybe not)...I could probably get my 7 yr old to help me...hmmm...I wonder what I could bribe her with. I really need to find her chore chart and start using it again. Maybe I'll do that stuff tomorrow and finish reading my copy of Death's Mistress by Karen Chance, which by the way is really, REALLY good! I most definitely like that idea best.

Helping Haiti
I have been active on twitter for about 2 weeks now. I mean really active and participating in the twitterverse. During that time a 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti, January 12th to be exact. I could not believe the amount of tweets that were going on to get people to assist Haiti. I thought to myself, man people really do rally together to help those who really and truly need it. I was so happy to see this going on. People (celebrities of all kinds) and organizations were/are coming together to help a country in dire need. It is most awe inspiring. So here I am doing my small part in helping the people of Haiti. Alyssa Milano has written an article on the Huffington Post that I would love to share with you all, just follow the link. If you like books you may get a chance to have a book dedicated to you, check out Shiloh Walker’s page. Not sure which charities to donate to, here’s a list by Charity Navigator.
Though I myself have yet to donate, I do encourage those of you who can, to do so. I will be making my donation next week (when I have money again) by purchasing Twittelator Pro through the App Store on my iPod. Yep that’s right I said iPod. Big Stone Phone (stone.com) announced that all profits for the rest of January will be donated to aid the victims in Haiti. Is that awesome or what!? So if you’ve got an iPod touch or an iPhone go ahead and spend that $4.99 on the app (if you have a twitter account that is). I’m using the free version until I have money to spend so I can purchase it before the end of January.
